The workshop
We last western boots and we sort them by the two things that decide whether a pair goes on at all: how the foot sits along the sole, and how much room the shaft leaves around the calf.
What we make
Cowboy boots and booties, cut for women, men and children. Square toes, snip toes and pointed toes; shafts that stop at the ankle, at mid calf and at the knee; block heels, embroidered panels, pull tabs, and a good deal of suede. Across the range that comes to 312 pages on this site.
Why a page is one colour
A boot in tan and the same boot in black are not quite the same object. The leather behaves differently, the embroidery reads differently, and the photograph is the thing most people actually choose from. So each colourway gets its own page, and every size we cut in that colour sits on it.
The part we are strict about
Sizing. Our women's lasts run on one grid, and we can say that because 37 of our own charts agree on it to within 0.3 of an inch. That is what the fit bench answers from.
Our men's boots are a different story and we would rather admit it than paper over it. They are not all built on the same last: at the same marked size 8 the inside length runs from 9.4 to 11.1 inches depending on the pair, which is a wider gap than the step between sizes. There is no honest men's grid to print, so every men's page carries the chart for that boot and nothing is averaged.
How the boots are sold
This site is the catalogue: the lasts, the charts, the measurements and the fitting notes. The buying happens with our retail partner, whose listing the buttons open. Checkout, carriage and returns are theirs, and IUV earns a commission when a pair is bought through one of those links.
